AMC MODEL 20 JEEP CJ 1-PIECE AXLE BEARING NUMBER CHANGE from set # 6 to set # 9

I recently put a Detroit Locker in the rear of a CJ-5. This had 1-piece aftermarket axles. The job went as normal, but the right bearing was loose and needed to be replaced. A call to two of the local parts stores said a Timken Set #6 bearing was correct. With this bearing installed, the axle was not held in place and the bearing was very loose, no mater which way the bearing was installed on the axle shaft. A call to Superior Axle and I found out that the bearing for use on the 1-piece axles was Timken #9, which came with a retaining collar. This bearing is made to hold the axle in place without the shims or the spacer block in the carrier, and is still used with the inner seal and outer retainer seal.
